More Great Adventures!

A great place to go birdwatching is in Gamboa.  The flora and fauna are magnificent.  Birds abound! If you are interested in a tour along the Pipeline Road give Panama Great Adventures a call at (507) 317-0791.  Ask for Maria Isabel Herrera.  She is the best travel planner EVER! This picture is just a small sample of the incredible birds you will see in Gamboa. http://www.pipelineroad.org/   http://www.panamagreatadventures.com/

Great Adventures…

If you love to indulge in birdwatching, Panama is the place to visit.  There is an excellent company that specializes in birdwatching tours called Panama Great Adventures.  I highly recommend it for its organization, its incredible service, and the high quality tours it sponsors.  Visit their website at panamagreatadventures.com or you may email the owner/operator at mherrera@ptyga.com.

A Great Place to Eat

This delicious BBQ chicken sandwich can be found at New York Bagel Cafe in El Cangrejo, one of my favorite places to eat.  The food is excellent, the service is fast and friendly, and the Wi-Fi connection is free.  You can sit for hours there surfing the net and no one will bother you. One of my favorite items on the menu is the bottomless coffee cup. You can drink as much coffee as you like until you OD on caffeine.  http://www.newyorkbagelcafe.com/

Birdwatchers are welcome!

Morning has broken and wherever you look you find beauty.  Panama is a thriving city in the middle of a diverse biosphere where nature virtually jumps out at you.  This beautiful hummingbird was captured on film just a few minutes outside the city in Gamboa.  If you are a birdwatcher, Panama is the place to visit. http://www.pipelineroad.org/

Unique Architecture

Panama has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years.  Every day new buildings are unveiled and it seems that the city’s architects try to outdo themselves by implementing unique and innovative designs.  This is the famous “corkscrew” building which is located on Calle 50.  It is a definite must see for anyone visiting the city.

Welcome to Panama. It’s so much more than a canal.

When someone mentions Panama, two things might come to mind.  Some people might automatically think of Panama City, Florida and wild parties at the beach during spring break. If you have a wider view of the world, the image of the Panama Canal might jump into your mind. This ex-pat has been here for over thirty years and I can attest to the fact that Panama is so much more than just a canal.   Since the Panama Canal is probably the most well known tourist destination here in Panama, I’ve decided to share a  photo of the Miraflores Lock as a large ship makes its transit and is slowly lifted to the next level.  http://www.pancanal.com/eng/
