The Riverside Inn is a lovely small hotel in Boquete. It sits right on the river as its name suggests and is surrounded by lovely lush mountains. The rooms are spacious and very tastefully decorated. There is a cozy living room with a fireplace and a small bar and TV room. Breakfast is included and served at The Rock, which is a lovely restaurant located next to the hotel. I absolutely love this quaint little hotel.
Hacienda Los Molinos is located in El Frances, Chiriqui. It is about 10 minutes outside the town of Boquete. Los Molinos is a gated community that has a small hotel. The hotel has lovely rooms and a great restaurant, Raices. There is a pool and a spectacular canyon view. Small villas are also available for those who are travelling with family and need more space. It is outside of Boquete and off the main highway, so a car is needed if you want to leave the area, I went with my family so we stayed in a two bedroom villa. The villas have a nice kitchen and is very roomy and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here and plan on returning soon.
We arrived after a 2 hour drive from Panama City. The hotel grounds are nice and the beach is pretty. We arrived right at check-in time so there was a line of about 5 people ahead of us. The line moved very slowly! We were in line for at least 30 or 40 minutes. Our own check-in process did not take long but apparently a large group had arrived and their rooms were not ready, so we had to wait until they were all sorted out. There were only 2 clerks checking people in so the whole thing just dragged on.
The room was really basic but it was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It had a really pretty view of the ocean and of the entire pool area.
However, as we got to the room after check-in, we immediately noticed the bathroom floor was flooded and the room looked like it was cleaned in a rush. We quickly changed to go to the pool and told the cleaning crew about the flooded bathroom floor on our way down. When we came back around 7pm the floor was clean. However, as I jumped in the shower before heading to dinner, the bathroom floor started flooding again! After inspecting it, we figured out there was some sort of design flaw in the shower which made the water hit the shower sill in an area where it’s not caught by the shower curtain. We tried different things and it was very hard to keep the bathroom from flooding! We stopped at the lobby on our way to dinner to let the staff know the bathroom had flooded again and to please send someone to mop it up. We went back up to the room more than 2 hours later and it was still flooded. At this point we just wanted to go to bed so we just threw some towels on the floor. Same thing happened the next day. Long story short the bathroom flooded every time we showered. This hotel has been around for a long time, it seems to me this is the sort of issue you fix early on. What a nuisance!
Service at the bars and restaurants was pretty good. They had some decent mojitos at the pool bar and the beer was light tasting and refreshing, perfect for the very warm weather we experienced.
The food was alright. Nothing bad but nothing sticks out as being particularly good either. Just regular buffet food.
The pools were nice looking but a bit crowded. I only remember seeing 2 pools that were deep enough for adults, and they were not very large. There were plenty of lounge chairs but only a few of them had umbrellas.
All in all, we had a nice time but I don’t think we will be visiting this hotel again. It’s just not worth the hassle and there are other beach resorts in Panama where we’ve had a better experience.
Isla Verde is a boutique hotel in Boquete, Chiriqui which consists of cabins, cottages and guesthouses. This lovely hotel is surrounded by lovely zen like gardens filled with flowers and fruit trees. It is only a short walk from the main street. Although it is right in the center of town, it is quiet and serenely peaceful. Each cabin has either a small kitchenette or a fully operating kitchen, complete with dishes and cookware. The staff is friendly and helpful. A nice continental breakfast is included in the cost. I spent New Year’s Eve here with my family and my dog. We all had a wonderful time. Go to the link below and check out their website.
This amazing Art Deco beauty is the Main Hall of The American Trade Hotel. This lovely building was originally built as a branch of the National City Bank of New York. It is now used to host events and can hold up to 350 guests.
These beautiful views of the city’s skyline were taken from the 66th floor of the Trump Ocean Tower. If you would like to experience this in person, visit the the Trump’s casino which is found on the 66th floor. There is a lovely little bar at the entrance to the casino with a small infinity pool that overlooks the city. The view is amazing and the members of the staff at the Trump Tower are very friendly and helpful.
The American Trade Hotel can be found right dab in the heart of historical Casco Viejo, across from La Merced Church. It was built in 1917 and designed by Leonardo Villanueva Meyer. This neo-classical building housed the American Trade Developing Company, from which it derives its name. I am looking forward to checking out the interior and taking some photos.
I was walking around the Casco and saw this cute little guy standing very obediently outside the door of a local hotel. His owner told him to wait for him, dropped the dog’s leash and then went inside. I stood and watched him for a few minutes and he never once budged from his spot. If this had been my dog she would have been three blocks down the street before I had even closed the door.
Las Clementinas is a beautiful, upscale cafe in Casco Viejo. It is elegantly furnished and offers a wide variety of national and international dishes. The food is wonderful and the service is top notch and personal. You can choose to dine inside with all the comforts of climate control or you may dine out on the terraza amid the tropical foliage. Either way you are in for a delightful time. http://cascoviejo.com/las-clementinas-cafe-and-bar/
